HEIDI LATSKY DANCE: "IF" OPEN REHEARSAL Dedicated to creating provocative and physically adventurous works, Heidi Latsky, former member of the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company, is creating IF, a dynamic new piece, which mixes members of her company with disabled artists. Get a bird’s eye view into the artistic process and see the new work being created. Afterwards enjoy a chat with the dancers over a glass of wine. SOCIAL SCENE SOCIAL SKILLS--For Members in their 20s Social Skills training is a comprehensive program designed to provide participants with skills to decrease anxiety in social situations and an opportunity to learn basic social cues and make new friends. Topics include: boundaries, inclusion, daily living skills, dating and more. Your images, quotes, collages and designs will encourage visitors to "take to the stairs" for some exercise & save a little energy for our planet at the same time. Members will explore their creative abilities and stimulate individual and social skills, improve communication skills and increase self-esteem. JOB SKILLS JOB SEARCH GROUP/TECH LAB GROUP Led by our Jobpath Counselor, Katrina Reese, get an expert's eye on helping you conduct your ultimate job search. Job Search Group is held along with Tech Lab Group where you can learn about social networking, buying stuff online, Microsoft word, Google calendar and documents, bookmarking, searching, cutting and pasting, researching online, YouTube, uploading digital photos, resumes and more. Help each other find answers to questions such as: *How do you make friends at work? *What do you do when you don't understand what your boss wants from you? *How do you deal with boredom at work? *How do you let your boss know when you have too much work? FAMILY SUPPORT PARENT SUPPORT GROUP This group will provide an opportunity for parents of Adaptations members to come together in a small group format to share resources, problem solve, gain support from each other and build community. Parents of young adults face issues and concerns related to the independent activities of daily life and the future goals of their adult children. These concerns will be addressed with an experienced support group facilitator, Hannah Kaplan-Cohen, a life coach and parenting expert working with young adults and families. Section 1: 5:45-7:15pm or Section 2: 7:30-9pm, $225/$270 SIBLING SUPPORT GROUP This group provides support for adult siblings who grew up in families where a brother or sister had special needs. In a small group format, the personal experiences of the participants will be shared as a way to better understand and cope with some of the life-long issues they face as siblings. Emotional support, insight, strategies and community will be facilitated. The group is run by Hannah Kaplan-Cohen, life skills coach working with young adults and families.
